Wrockwardine Wood Infant School and Oakengates Nursery Federation

Admission Arrangements

Generally children are admitted into the school Nursery to take up either a 15 or 30 hour funded place at the beginning of the term after their third birthday.  In some circumstances children may be allowed to take up a place during the term of their third birthday if there are spaces available and a parent is entitled to Talking Two's funding.

Attendance in our Nursery does not automatically confirm a place in our school as the Local Authority decides our admissions. Parents need to apply to the Local Authority for a school place.

Parents are welcome to book an appointment prior to considering a place to view our school. During COVID-19 please view our video on the front page of our website. You may also ring the school office to book a telephone or Skype appointment with the Executive Headteacher on 01952 387860.

The Local Authority will confirm a child's place in one of our Reception classes in the academic year before the child is due to start school. The school has an admissions limit of 70 pupils per year group.

Once places have been confirmed with the LA parents will receive a letter from the school requesting them to:

  • confirm that they wish to take the school place
  • book a home visit with the Reception teacher ( During COVID-19 this is a Skype call .)
  • attend some induction visits.

Children are admitted into school in a single intake in September during the academic year they will have their 5th birthday. However  parents may wish to defer entry into school until their child turns 5 years old. More information can be found in the link above.
