Anti-Bullying

At Wrockwardine Wood Infant School and Oakengates Nursery Federation, every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and respected. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our school community.

Our approach to preventing and responding to bullying is rooted in our behaviour expectations, our motto, our learning powers, and our school values. These shape the way we treat each other every day.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is defined as the repetitive, intentional harming of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power.

Bullying is:

  • Deliberately hurtful

  • Repeated, taking place persistently over time

  • Difficult to defend against

We also teach children to remember this definition as STOP:
Several Times On Purpose

Our Behaviour Expectations

We expect all members of our school to:

  • Be Kind – Show care, compassion, and respect to everyone

  • Be Honest – Speak the truth, act with integrity, and take responsibility for actions

  • Work Hard – Always try your best, persevere, and support others in their learning and play

By living these expectations, we create a community where bullying behaviours cannot thrive.

Our Motto: Love, Laugh, Learn

  • Love – We show kindness and empathy, building positive relationships where everyone feels they belong.

  • Laugh – We enjoy learning and life together, celebrating differences and achievements.

  • Learn – We develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to be the best we can be.

Our motto reminds us that bullying has no place in a safe, happy, and successful learning environment.

Our School Values

  • Equity – We ensure all children have access to the same high-quality education, recognising and respecting diversity in culture, ability, and circumstance.

  • Excellence – We strive for the highest standards in behaviour, learning, and care for one another.

  • Hard Work – We work together to solve problems, resolve conflicts, and make our school a better place for all.

  • Kindness – We act with compassion, understanding how our words and actions affect others.

  • Honesty – We are truthful, fair, and take responsibility for what we say and do.

These values underpin everything we do to prevent and address bullying.

Our Learning Powers

We help children develop skills and attitudes that support positive relationships and resilience:

  • Resilience – To stand up for what is right and bounce back from challenges.

  • Collaboration – To work and play well with others.

  • Curiosity – To understand different perspectives.

  • Reflection – To think about how actions affect others and make positive changes.

Preventing and Addressing Bullying

We work hard to prevent bullying through:

  • PSHE lessons, assemblies, and class discussions about respect, empathy, and diversity.

  • Encouraging children to speak up if something worries them.

  • Providing safe spaces and trusted adults for children to share concerns.

  • Responding quickly, fairly, and supportively to any incidents, helping all children involved.

Working Together

By living our values, following our behaviour expectations, and embracing our motto, we create a school community where kindness is the norm, respect is expected, and everyone can love, laugh, and learn together.
