Welcome to Year 2!

Week 13

This week in Swifts we have been learning about position and direction. We have been finding out where objects are using language such as: besides, on top of, next to, behind.

Week 12

In art we have been learning about geometrical patterns. We used different shapes to make rangoli patterns. We learnt how the rangolis had to be symmetrical.

Week 11

In PSHEE we have been learning about different jobs people have and stereotypes about different jobs. We discussed what we might want to be when we are older.

Week 5

The children in year 2 were geographers and explored the village of Ironbridge Gorge.

We looked at the features of a gorge (a narrow valley) as well as the human and physical features.  We concluded that there were lots of shops, cafes and restaurants in the village due to the number of visitors that come to see the Ironbridge.

Week 4

In PE this week the children in Swifts learnt how to stop in a balanced position by developing balance, stability along with the knowledge on how to land safely. The children then applied this skill to complete sporting challenges in the hall.

Week 3

The children in Swifts enjoyed listening to a story being read to them by year 6 pupils from Wrockwardine Wood Junior School year. It was so lovely to see the children share a love for reading.

Week 2: We are Historians.

As historians we wanted to use different sources of evidence to find out about our school in the past. We looked at photographs, newspaper reports and old plans and maps.
