Pupil Premium Strategy

Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) funding plays and invaluable role in supporting the educational journey of disadvantaged families within our school community. As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure that every child, irrespective of their background or circumstances, receives the necessary support and opportunities to thrive academically and personally.

Pupil Premium funding provides a vital resource that enables us to bridge the gap and address the barriers to learning that some of our children face. It allows us to implement targeted interventions, provide additional resources, and offer tailored support to meet the unique needs of each child. By doing so, we can create a more inclusive and equitable learning environment where every child has the chance to reach their full potential.

At Wrockwardine Wood Infant School and Nursery we are committed to using Pupil Premium funding effectively to maximise its impact on the lives of our children and their families. Through careful planning and collaboration with teachers, support staff, and external agencies, we have developed a range of initiatives aimed at improving outcomes and narrowing the attainment gap.

Some of the key strategies we employ include:

Quality First teaching:  We ensure Quality First Teaching (QFT) which means high quality inclusive teaching together with a continuous whole school process for assessing, implementing, tracking, monitoring and reviewing each child’s progress.

Personalised Learning: We recognize that every child is different, and therefore, we provide personalised support and interventions tailored to individual needs. This could include one-to-one tuition, small group sessions, or mentoring programs, all designed to boost confidence, improve skills, and enhance academic progress.

Enrichment Opportunities: We believe in the importance of enriching experiences beyond the classroom. Pupil Premium funding enables us to offer extracurricular activities, educational trips, and cultural experiences that broaden horizons, foster social skills, and inspire a love for learning.

Family Engagement: We understand the crucial role that parents and guardians play in supporting their child's education. Therefore, we actively engage with families, offering workshops, parent forums, and access to community resources to empower parents to become partners in their child's learning journey.

Wellbeing and Pastoral Care: We prioritize the emotional and mental wellbeing of our children, recognising that a supportive and nurturing environment is essential for academic success. Pupil Premium funding allows us to provide access to counselling services, pastoral support, and wellbeing initiatives that promote resilience, confidence, and self-esteem.

Targeted Resources: We invest in targeted resources such as textbooks, technology, and learning materials to ensure that every child has access to the tools they need to succeed. Whether it's providing laptops for homework or funding additional support staff, we strive to remove any barriers to learning that our children may face.

It is important to emphasise that the impact of Pupil Premium funding extends far beyond academic achievement. By investing in the holistic development of our children, we are equipping them with the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

As we continue our journey towards educational excellence and equity, I urge you to join us in recognising the importance of Pupil Premium funding and the transformative difference it makes in the lives of our children. together, we can create a brighter future for all.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the welfare and success of every child in our school community.
